Otherwise

“In imagining more accessible futures, I am yearning for an elsewhere—and, perhaps, an ‘elsewhen’—in which disability is understood otherwise: as political, as valuable, as integral.”

—Alison Kafer, Feminist, Queer, Crip

Otherwise is a collective of crips interested in worlding, imagined futures, adapting tools, and the politics of access.

We are interested in creative practices that render the world touchable and changeable. Rather than designing around consensus and universality, our work seeks to alter conventional design practice and shift how we understand life worth living.

We make things, talk, teach, research, gather, publish, build, adapt, and experiment, etc.
